What is the Japan House about?
JAPAN HOUSE operates three such hubs, in London, Los Angeles, and Sao Paolo. Each hub features an exhibition space, a multi-purpose space with theater facilities, a retail space, food and drink, books, online connectivity, and a cafe space.
Why are they called the Japanese house?
In 2012 Bain's friend introduced her to singer Matty Healy of the 1975, who Bain's friend was dating at the time. Bain began working closely with The 1975, and signed to their label Dirty Hit. Bain settled on the stage name The Japanese House because she did not feel ready to reveal her name or gender.

Japan House London is free to visit – this includes the exhibition and the Library. Most of our events are also free. A small number of workshops require a participation fee to cover materials.
